What is CoQ10? And from what Age do you need an Extra Dose?
CoQ10 (coenzyme Q10) is a nutrient found in every cell of our body.
As long as we are Young and Healthy, our Body produces enough CoQ10, which it then converts into the Active Form Ubiquinol.
Research shows that the amount of ubiquinol starts to decrease from the age of 30.
Is a Healthy diet not enough to keep your ubiquinol at the right level?
Ubiquinol is found in modest amounts in meat, poultry and fish, and in even smaller amounts in nuts and green vegetables. To get a dose of 100mg of ubiquinol per day, you would need to eat these impressive amounts:
- 3.4 kg steak
- 5.75 kg chicken
- 1.6 kg peanuts
- 50 cups of spinach
- 120 cans of sardines
However, you can also take one softgel of ubiquinol instead, which will provide you with the necessary 100 mg.
Note: statins, the most common medication to lower ‘bad’ LDL cholesterol, also deplete your body’s CoQ10 reserves. A daily ubiquinol supplement is also a good way to replenish your supply of CoQ10.
Did you know that… at least 1 in 10 Europeans take statins?
